The Employer Nomination Scheme visa (subclass 186) is a permanent visa that allows an Applicant to remain in Australia indefinitely. The Applicant must be nominated by an eligible Employer however, they can work anywhere in Australia.


EMPLOYER NOMINATION SCHEME (SUBCLASS 186) - INFORMATION FOR EMPLOYERS

The Employer Nomination Scheme visa (subclass 186) enables an Applicant to live indefinitely in Australia. The visa also allows the Applicant to add their spouse and dependent children.

An Applicant may obtain an Employer Nomination Scheme visa (subclass 186) by applying through the Temporary Resident Transition (TRT) stream or the Direct Entry (DE) stream.


TEMPORARY RESIDENT TRANSITION STREAM

To be eligible for the Employer Nomination Scheme - Temporary Resident Transition stream (subclass 186), the Primary Applicant must be able to demonstrate that they:

  • 1. Have held a subclass 482 visa for a minimum period of 2 years; and
  • 2. Are being nominated by the same Employer who sponsored them for the subclass 482 visa;
  • 3. Hold registration or licencing if required for the occupation;
  • 4. Have at least ‘competent’ level English e.g. IELTS score equal to (or above) 6 for each of the four test components;
  • 5. Have an Employment Contract offering full-time work for a minimum period of 2 years with the possibility of renewal – the nominated salary must be equal to (or above) $70,000 per annum (based on a 38 week);
  • 6. Have private health insurance for themselves and any dependent family members throughout the processing of the visa application.
  • 7. Are under 45 years of age.

Obligations as a Permanent Employer Sponsored Visa Holder

This is a Permanent visa allowing the holder to remain in Australia indefinitely. There are no work or study restrictions placed upon this visa.
